SUMMARY:TRAILBLAZERS Full Day Snowshoe Outing
DESCRIPTION:Details \n\n\n\nWe’ll be joining our friends in the TRAILBLAZERS program for a day of snowshoeing! Plan on 4-5 miles of relatively flat trails at an elevation of 10\,000’\, so plan to be on trails for at least 3 hours in cold conditions. \nThis is a moderately strenuous outing\, and not recommended for absolute beginners to the outdoors. However\, you don’t need snowshoeing experience to join this BIPOC women’s event. \nIf you’re new to enjoying outdoor winter activities\, you’ll learn:\n• Layering clothing for warmth\n• Navigating safely in snow\n• Preventing frostbite\n• Snowshoeing versus post-holing\n• Exploring fun trails year-round\n• And more! \nSnowshoes\, poles\, and any related gear is available to borrow if you don’t have them. You’ll also have an opportunity to request these items at the time of registration. \nGETTING THERE\nWe’ll meet at 8am at the Women’s Wilderness office in Boulder (1206 Euclid Ave) and ride in the van together to the trailhead. \nEnd Time: Around 3pm at the Women’s Wilderness office in Boulder. \nTransportation provided from the Women’s Wilderness office to the trailhead and back. Space is limited\, and proof of Covid vaccination is required. \nReach out to info@womenswilderness.org with questions. \nREGISTER HERE: https://www.hisawyer.com/womens-wilderness/schedules/activity-set/301125 \nFee: $7 donation (a small token to ensure people follow through with their registration if we plan for their participation) \nYOUR INSTRUCTORS:\nLisa (she/her/hers) is a retired firefighter paramedic who finds physical and mental respite in nature\, and loves to share these benefits with nature newcomers! Wildlife\, plants\, and outdoor skills are her jam and she hopes to pass on some useful knowledge. She holds degrees in healthcare science\, zoology\, and outdoor education. \nKriste (she/her/hers) is a passionate outdoor enthusiast who loves being in community while in nature. She’s all about bringing mindfulness and storytelling into the mix in ways that heighten the inner and outer adventure by teaching us more about ourselves and our surroundings. She’s also a trail runner\, writer\, and Wilderness First Responder. \nABOUT TRAILBLAZERS\nOur instructors are women of color with in-depth wilderness training and teaching experience\, a shared passion for the outdoors\, and for this growing program. Through intentional planning and leadership\, the Trailblazers experience invites the collective intelligence and histories of our constituents to create outings that bridge our divides and elevate our sense of wonder\, agency\, and belonging in nature. \nTrailblazers is an affinity space within Women’s Wilderness created by and for those who identify as women of color. At Women’s Wilderness\, we recognize the importance and value of creating safe\, self-directed spaces as an option for our participants who seek it\, and it’s the goal of the Trailblazers team to address that need by fostering community\, joy\, and connection within our diverse identities as we explore the outdoors together. \n\n\n\n\n\nCOVID-19 safety measures\n\n\n\nCOVID 19 vaccination required\n\n\n\n\nEvent will be outdoors\n\n\n\nSafety measures instituted by event host. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring that precautions are followed. \n\n
